My name is Kylie and I love food. Who doesn’t right? Problem was, I sucked at cooking. Like REALLY sucked. So I decided to do something about it.
My college diet consisted of cereal, tacos, bar food, and whatever my husband would make. Once I graduated and a ton of time was dropped in my lap, I decided it was an opportunity to up my game.
Here are my specific goals:
-Sustainability. I’m looking to broaden my horizons while paying close attention to the environment and the companies producing food. Local farms and my own personal garden are my first choice for grocery shopping.
-Lifestyle. I try to practice buying local, organic, seasonal and fresh as much as possible. At the same time, I think it is okay to break these rules once in a while.
-Health. On top of being healthier, I want to lose some weight. However, I DO NOT DIET. I am making lifestyle changes, I don’t cut calories for a few weeks.
-Taste. I want to rock my taste buds. I live with my husband, Jason, and he is my main test subject because he will be brutally honest (plus he’s half-Italian, half-Irish so I have a lot to live up to in the taste department).
-Convenience. While all that other stuff is much more important to me, there are days when I just do not have the energy to cook. On days like this, I want to be able to pull something out of the freezer in the morning, toss it in the crock pot and come home to a delicious-smelling dinner (and house!).
If you would like to contribute to any of my recipes, or simply want to share your own story, please leave a comment or email me. I love to feature guest bloggers!
I hope to learn more about the cooking world as well as help other untalented, picky and lazy people like myself better themselves, their bodies, their experiences and their environments.
